Unfortunately, mine at least, doesn't work great! The shim that holds the stand at the set height keeps slipping. Once right in the middle of a song! It slid all the way down! When I tried to pull up on the shaft, which is supposed to release the shim for resetting, it slid freely but wouldn't lock! Then, when I tried to slide the sleeve to expose the shim so I could check it, the sleeve wouldn't budge! It turns freely but it won't slide up off the shim. This has happened to me four times now! In case you are wondering, the sleeve is a loose sliding piece. It was like that out of the box. I had to use a hammer to move the the sleeve to expose the shim. Not a durable or reliable design. At least not for a lead singer who moves the mic stand around alot. I bought this item on April 16th and it is now May 25th. It didn't last long. Precisely three practices and one gig. On the way to the first show with it, the top where the arms are stored would not stay closed without tape. The legs would not fold back in properly after 2 shows. I was extra gentle with it. 2 rehearsals and it was useless at the next show. The leg at first would not come out, then fell into the base, never to be seen again. I called Ultimate again, and they still refuse to replace it and want me to ship it back to them at my expense for repair. I am a tourng musician and this is unacceptable. The Voodoo Labs tone quality was much better. The Boss got very distorted very quickly especially when playing chords or double stops. As long as the guitar volume is high enough, this pedal gives what you want. The controls allow for various fuzz property levels. I play a Strat though a Marshall DSL 50 with a hot plate attenuator. This does a great job with most acoustic and early electric 78s produced between 1910-1930. Later 78s, from the 40s and eary 50s sound every bit as good. The fact that the speedcan be adjusted is a great plus, since many early 78s were not actually recorded at that speed. Quality: The plastic tonearm is rather flimsy and bows slightly when inserted into the "holder" designed to lock it in place. This could be better designed, since the plastic may eventually stress. A tonearm clip may be a better option.Also, the hard plastic turntable might scratch records. Some sort of cushion should have been used. Along this line, if the product is ever redesigned, it may also be a plus to include a storage bin for the AC adapter inside the cabinet. Desirability: More of a Decco design might be a plus. Sound: The ads I've seen claim that the built in speaker allows users to "get the party moving out on the road." Not true. In fact, you can barley hear the thing a few feet away with the volume cranked to the max. In view of the ad hype, I have rate the sound quality from the built in mono speaker very poor, especially for 78s (yes, I use the optional 3 mil 78 needle). The sound quality through standard headphones is another story. I'd rate that very good to excellent. Support: I've never dealt with the company, so I can't really say. Ease of Use: Pretty easy to use, controling the effects takes some time though. Support: Had a slight problem with the nut flying off cause my friend had a 4' cord and thought he could run 30' away... as you can guess it didn't work. They offered suggestions and sent a new nut to me got it in the mail in a few days. Overall: Perfect amp, by a very nice company for a goddly price, what more could you want? Sound: The sound on this thing is very good. It models the different amps very well. I was thinking about getting a peavey valveking head, but this one sounded much crisper and more present.
