The impedance switcher is a nice add too. Quality: Made in China but well built. Value: Better than Octopre. You can consider the RME Octomic D at this point. Desirability: Great for recordings drums. It's a no brainer unit. Sound: Very nice sound for the price. The pre's are good enough for miking a drums with very good results. Ease of Use: Great except for the analog out on db25 connctor. Support: No problems since one years. Overall: Very nice add for any project-home studio. Sound very nice. Fits the bill for me very well Sound: I bought this a few weeks ago, I create training for online delivery and this product have very good sound from the mic pre's. I use it with a Heil PR40 and the sound is fantastic. One interesting thing is that I have to turn the gain up all the way to get a good signal & I am not sure if this is an issue but the sound is great Oh, as a side benefit the sound from my Taylor guitar is very good as well Ease of Use: Almost too easy. I would like to see a better pc program to control the device but once its steup it just works... Quality: They just got moved halfway across ontario and I set them back up and they work perfectly. They withstood freezing temperatures no problem. Value: To me, they were free so that is pretty much the best value you can get. Desirability: They look really nice as my main speakers, make me feel like a big shot. I also like the blue power light on the front. Sound: Not the best for monitoring, too much space between tweeter/cones... Support: Don't know. Overall: I want to get near field monitors so one day I will probably get some HR824s but untill then these work for many purposes - monitoring, live sound, etc. I dont think I will ever be able to listen to these things at unity gain on my board at the distance they sit from me (about 15 feet). The midi scoring could be better, but other than that it does everything I need. I do use the midi scoring but I don't do anything complicated with it, so it suits me quite well. Value: Very good value. I can't believe how cheap it is yet I honestly prefer it to both pro tools and logic. It's a tad more difficult to use auxiliaries than PT, but I find everything else much easier. Desirability: As someone else said, it's not that desirable because it's so cheap, something that hurts potential buyer's views, but it sure helped my wallet. Ease of Use: Very easy to use. Everything is on a single screen and nothing feels cluttered. Learn a few hot keys and you're well on your way to maximizing your workflow. I uninstalled the drivers from the Axiom 49 (they are not necessary with Windows XP), unistalled nokia drivers, unistalled logitech drivers, and any other driver that was linked to a USB port. After this, the unit ran flawlessly. Support: You have to call them. Forget email. Some things still work best with the phone. Sound: Dull, sterile, presets are awful and not at all musical. You can tweak it to get better sounds. There are some innovative effects but they come across as gimmicky and not really musical. I'm a tube amp fan and this thing in no way sounds anything like a tube amp. I returned it and bought a VOX ToneLabLE and am really happy with that. zzounds was really great about that and I appreciate their flexibility. Ease of Use: Takes a bit of work. What a stupid question, we are talking about a MICROPHONE here Sound: Upon unpacking the M Audio Luna mic you realize that this mic is heavy and seems to be of good quality. I have recorded the first time with this mic last night, here are my impressions in regards to sound. The main thing to mention is that this mic does not add any high end sparkle to recorded vocals. If you want a mic that adds some low end to your vocal recording, then the Luna is the right mic for you. I would not recommend the Luna if its your one and only mic in the studio but it will make a good addition to your mic collection. I have only recorded vocals with the Luna, not guitar, but can imagine that the Luna is very good for recording acoustic guitar due to the fact that it somewhat surpresses the high end and so reduces the often unwanted "clang" you get when recording acoustic guitar Ease of Use: Ease of use, well - as any mic Support: Did not need them, and hope I never will. Quality: The phantom power broke after about 6 months of use. Value: Okay value, as long as yours doesn't break like mine did after 6 months. Desirability: Not impressed with durability. Sound: Good sound, except when the phantom power broke after 6 months of use, with approximately 20 minutes of total regular use per week. Now it sounds really poppy and scratchy, even though I have tried it with TWO different condenser mics and three sets of cables (I know it is the Mobile-Pre that is broken - not my other gear). Ease of Use: Fairly easy to use. Software is a little outdated (running Windows 2000 era software on Windows XP works, but it is a little buggy), but once you get the hang of it, it works ok. Support: I've called their non-800 support line to get a warranty return authorization, and have been on their phone for well over an hour. THEIR TECH SUPPORT SUCKS!!!! Overall: It broke, and loses points because of that. And at first it felt bad to me, but after playing this for a bit, I saw that I could get used to it. Very few sounds, but most of them are excellent. Quality: Seems okay, but not that solid. Value: For $600, this is an incredible value, and it has just the sounds that a gigging keyboard player needs. I wish it had more onboard effects (a la Nord Electro2), especially for the clav patch. The Roland RD700SX is a better board in every way, but it's over $2000, and the ProKeys 889 has most of what I need. Desirability: For the price, it's amazing, and this is the appeal. I wish other manufacturers would price like this! Sound: The piano is quite good, and more than acceptable for accompaniment work. I was able to dig in and enjoy. The Rhodes was tasty, the Wurly honked, and the Clav funked. M-Audio chose the right sounds! The organ is okay, too, but without a Leslie sim it is useless to me. The electric bass with cymbal makes for a very fun split. Overall: If you can handle a mediocre piano action and limited effects and expandability, and just need *killer* piano, EP, and Clav sounds, this is the axe for you.
